I can't have garlic, dairy (from cows), or gluten, but I can have pizza with this sauce on a gluten-free pizza crust and by using Gouda goat cheese. Add a tablespoon or so of olive oil into a hot pan over medium-high heat. Throw in the garlic and chopped onions and give them a stir. Add the onions and saute until slightly translucent.

The ingredients needed to make Pizza sauce:
  1. Take 5 medium tomatoes
  2. Take 2 tbls tomato purée
  3. Prepare 2 garlic cloves
  4. Make ready 1 tbls chopped basil leaves
  5. Take to taste Salt

In a medium bowl, Mix together tomato sauce and tomato paste until smooth. Stir in oregano, garlic and paprika. The main difference is that pizza sauce is raw, whereas pasta sauce is cooked. In the region where my mother is from, oregano is for pizza sauce, not pasta sauce.

Instructions to make Pizza sauce:
  1. Slice tomatoes and place on oven tray and drizzle with olive oil
  2. Grill tomatoes until colour changes
  3. Remove tomatoes and blend and set aside
  4. In a saucepan, heat olive oil and fry garlic and tomato purée for 2-3 minutes, until garlic turns golden brown
  5. Pour in blended tomatoes and cook until sauce thickens
  6. Add basil to sauce, cover immediately and turn off heat
  7. Sauce ready to use

The main difference is that pizza sauce is raw, whereas pasta sauce is cooked. In the region where my mother is from, oregano is for pizza sauce, not pasta sauce. Also, don't believe for a minute that either one should be "thick" or "heavy." If you end up with a thick pizza sauce, you're not making anything remotely Italian. Pizza sauce is thicker. this goes along with the point above, but pizza sauce contains tomato paste, which causes it to spread easier and more evenly! This might be my own opinion, but we like a lot more spices in our pizza sauce than we do in our spaghetti sauce!
