Kesari is a South Indian sweet made with semolina, sugar, ghee and saffron. A North Indian variation of this kesari is the Suji hawla which is made without kesar/ saffron. It is also known as sheera in some parts of Karnataka and Andhra. Here in suji ka halwa, I have used orange juice for interesting and different taste and used gram flour for crispiness.

The ingredients needed to make Orange Halwa:
  1. Make ready 1 bowl rava(semolina)
  2. Prepare 1 bowl sugar
  3. Get 12 badam(almond)
  4. Get 4 spoons kishmish(rasin)
  5. Take 2 spoons ghee
  6. Make ready 3 tbsp oil
  7. Make ready 2 orange juice
  8. Prepare 1 orange piece without seeds
  9. Make ready 2 spoons orange food colour
  10. Get 4 elacihi powder

In the northern part, a similar dessert called sooji halwa. The outcome of this dessert is an energetic orange color that is the reason it's named as Kesari. Mostly Southern people used to make rava Kesari with breakfast especially, during festival seasons.. Orange halua? yes it may sound very weird but trust me once you try this halua, you would fall in love with it.

Steps to make Orange Halwa:
  1. Heat a pan in medium flam add of ghee & oil then add a semolina in it and cook it till it turns light brown in colour.
  2. Then add an orange juice and orange pieces and add 2 & half bowl water and elachi.
  3. Add a sugar & orange food colour in it mix it continuously for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Than add the dry fruits and mix it properly.
  5. Take it in plate and garnish with orange pieces & almonds.

Orange suji halwa - orange flavored semolina or rava kesari made with fresh orange juice. This can be had with breakfast or as after meal dessert.
