  4. Prepare 1/2 cup Thickened Cream *whipped with 1 tablespoon Caster Sugar
  5. Prepare A few slices Sponge Cake *OR some Cookies, ‘Savoiardi’, or etc
  6. Get Ice Cream
  7. Get Extra Topping *e.g. ‘Pocky’ Sticks, Wafer Sticks, Nuts, etc
  8. Take <Soft Custard>
  9. Get 1 cup Milk
  10. Prepare 2 Egg Yolks
  11. Take 2-3 tablespoons Sugar
  12. Get 1 tablespoon Plain Flour
  13. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

My experience in cooking with kids: Before we get to the yogurt berry parfait, let me tell you about my experience in cooking with my kids. A parfait includes yogurt and usually fruit and some sort of crunchy topping such as granola. I like to mix things up and top with other foods too, just to make it fun for the kids.

  3. *Note: Naturally you can cook custard in a saucepan. Combine Egg Yolks, Sugar and Flour in a saucepan. Then add warmed Milk and mix well. Cook over a medium to low heat, stirring constantly until custard comes to the boil and thickens.
  4. Allow the soft custard to cool, then chill in the fridge.
  5. When the jelly is set, soft custard is chilled and cream is whipped, construct your own parfait.
  6. *Note: Today I layered custard and sponge cake pieces on top of jelly, covered with whipped cream, topped with vanilla ice cream and fruit, then I added children’s favourite ‘Pocky’ sticks.

A parfait includes yogurt and usually fruit and some sort of crunchy topping such as granola. I like to mix things up and top with other foods too, just to make it fun for the kids.
