However, if purist are to be believed than the Dundee Cake is perhaps the only cake that does absolutely fine without the mandatory Christmas spice mix of cinnamon and nutmeg.

- Cut, then mush with a fork, even portions of Swiss roll(or cake) into individual bowls.
- Open the tin of fruit and carefully pour equal amounts of just the juice over the cake. Then mush again with the fork until the cake has absorbed the liquid
- Tip equal portions of fruit into the bowls and spread out over the surface.
- Whisk the instant whip mix into 1/2 pint of milk until thick and creamy. Pour equal amounts over each serving. Put in fridge for at least 30 minutes to set, then enjoy!!
