  1. Heat the vessel,add oil and add sliced onion.Fry till golden brown,take out.
  2. Add all whole spices in the remaining oil,when crackle starts,add ginger garlic paste.Saute for 1 minute on medium flame.
  3. Add powdered spices with 2 tbsp water.Cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.
  4. Add all vegetables,stir.Add chopped tomato and salt.Cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes or till oil /ghee seperates.
  5. Add basmati rice and chana dal.Mix and add 4 cups hot water.Check salt.Let it boil.
  6. Reduce the flame to medium.Cover and cook for 5-6minutes.Check rice.If needed cook for some more time.
  7. When rice dal and vegetables are cooked well.Put off flame.
  8. Garnish with fried onion.Serve hot with raira and salad.
