Baked Shakarpara is a sweet wholewheat biscuit which is prepared specially on Holi festival in India. Traditionally sweet shakarpara recipe uses refined flour, and they are deep fried. Shakkarpare is an easy to make recipe, which doesn't require much ingredients. Mix all the ingredients except sugar.
Instructions to make Flavourful shakkarpare:
- In a pan, add milk, sugar and ghee and take one boil until sugar dissolves.
- Let it cool and then divide in to 5 equal parts.
- To one part add Blackcurrant crush, to one part add strawberry essence and pink food colour, to one part mango emulsion, to one part orange emulsion and to last part add khus emulsion.
- To each part add 2 tbsp of sooji and a cup of maida and knead a soft dough.(Add more maida if required)
- Make small balls of the dough of each colour and roll them in a chapati form and cut into rhombus shape.
- Fry in ghee separately and your Desi snacks with a tasty twist is ready to serve.
Shakkarpare is an easy to make recipe, which doesn't require much ingredients. Mix all the ingredients except sugar. Add little amount of water, while mixing the ingredients, and then knead it. Shakarparas are prepared in two ways. Either sugar or jaggery is kneaded in the dough or shakarparas are sugar coated later.
