The ingredients needed to make Southern cabbage:
- Prepare 1 head green cabbage, sliced into strips
- Prepare 1 onion, diced
- Get 3-4 tbsp bacon,cooked & remove bacon
- Take 1 onion, sliced into strips

Cut up your cabbage, add some butter, maybe some bacon grease to the skillet, and fry up a batch of southern goodness really quick and easy with our Southern Fried Cabbage recipe. I don't use the broth because I think that's more like a steamed cabbage than a fried version. Add the onion to the pan. Add the chicken broth, salt, and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender to your liking.

- Heat up the bacon grease in a large skillet. Add cabbage and onion. Cook until cabbage & onion is brown. You want it browned, but not burned. Crumble the bacon into skillet. Season to taste.
- Sometimes I add chopped jalapeños or cooked low fat ground beef
