Mix the baking soda, flour (sifted) and make a well where you add the liquid ingredients and knead lightly. In a large saucepan, whisk cornstarch and water until smooth; whisk in syrup. Remove from heat; stir in butter until melted. A syrupy custard pie "Galaktoboureko" is a traditional Greek dessert. Made with phyllo pastry, filled with a semolina cream, and soaked in syrup.
